History of Golden Temple :

In 1995, the temple’s construction work initiated and it was inaugurated in 2000 after the completion of five years long construction work. Arakanese architecture, the South-East Asia style, was adopted while building this temple. Besides the second-largest statue of Lord Buddha, there are other smaller statues and a golden bell hanging beneath a dragon within the temple boundary. The thing for which pilgrims and travelers go there is the dhatu, the corporeal relics of Buddha, which has been preserved below four statues of Buddha. The Buddhist people believe that the worship of the dhatu gives peace and happiness in heart. This dhatu was given to given to Venerable U Pannya Jota Thera, the famous monk and former Senior Assistant Judge of the Bangladesh government, as gift by the Government of Myanmar in 1994. South Asia Sub regional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) sponsored ‘Buddhist Circuit Tour’ has made it part of the Tourism Development Project.

How to go The Golden Temple :

Tourist will have to go to Bandarban town first. After reaching bandarban, they have to hire a rickshaw or auto rickshaw, Chander Gari (Public jeep), or private car. From Bandarban city, it may take half an hour to go there.Tourist can visit Golden temple by rickshaw or auto rikshaw.

It is mentioned earlier that the Golden Temple is located in a remote area and there is neither good hotel to stay nor good restaurant to eat quality food. Visitors who are interested to pay a visit in this religious site are advised to stay in any hotel in Bandarban town. Before leaving to Golden Temple in the morning, it is better to carry some dry foods.

This holy site is at the center of attraction for both tourists and pilgrims. Entrance is open to all. Anyone can enter into this holy place, but for this they have to buy a ticket of Tk 10. It remains open from 5pm to 7 pm for the visitors. Besides collecting ticket, you will have to follow a strict dress code. Visitors are not allowed to enter into the temple wearing shorts and shoes. Tourists can take photos, but they are not allowed to make video and touch the sculptures.You have to buy a ticket as a entrance fee with tk.10.It is open from morning to 6pm. Everyday.

Warning :

Malaria is a very common disease in this area. Recently a TV videographer died of cerebral malaria while covering news in Bandarban. So, tourists are advised take safety measures to keep themselves away from any kind of disease.

Keokradong Hill , bandarban :

Keokradong is the second highest mountain of Bangladesh. It is about 4,035 ft or 1,230 meters high from the sea level. It is located in thirty kilometers away from the Ruma sadar upazilla of Bandarban. It is a remote area full of natural magnificence. There are many big and small mountains spreads over this area. How to go keokradong :

If you want to go keokradong At first you must reached to the Ruma bazar Upazila by “Chander Gari” (public jeep) or a private vehicle. At first you have to go Keokradong. On the way of Keokradong, you will pass a tribal village known as “Darjiling Para” where you can take rest for half an hour. After reaching Keokradong you have to prepare for a long way to reach Jadipai. It will take you about 2.5 hours to reach Jadipai from Keokradong. How to go Boga Lake :

If you want to visit Boga lake at first you must have to go to Ruma Bazar from Bandarban city by bus, boat or Chander Gari (public Jeep car). Chander Gari arrives to Boga Lake. However, often due to landslide during rainy season, vehicles can barely move up to a place named Egaro Mile.From Ruma Bazar to Egaro Mile or Komla Bazar, you have to take the experience of the roller coaster ride due to the muddy, hilly and zigzag roads. The steep hill by the side of Komla Bazar has risen up towards the sky. Boga Lake is located on its summit. If you climb the hill for 20-30 minutes from Komla Bazar then Boga Lake will be appeared in your eyes. If the vehicle goes till Egaro Mile, you will have to reach Komla Bazar by walking, which will take one and half an hour to two hours for trekking. However, taking a guide from Ruma Bazar, you have to go to the army camp to make entry of your as well as your guide’s name within 4 pm and then go out towards Boga Lake. After 4 pm, you will not get permission from the army camp and roads are also not safe for the journey at night.

Where do you stay :

There are around 20 cottages in the surrounding of Boga Lake. Among them, Siam Didi’s cottage, Laram’s cottage and Robert cottage are most popular. Some cottages are made on a high raise bamboo platform just beside the lake. Each person will have to spend only Tk. 100 for accommodation. If you visit the place during off season, you do not need to reserve the cottage in advance. But advance reservation is needed if you want to go there during on-season.

Foods :

Visitors will not have to face any problem regarding food. They will get fresh and hygienic food to eat. Foods that are arranged by cottages are plain rice, potato smash, pulse, egg fry and vegetables etc. Per meal will cost TK. 100 only.
